The main aim of this work package is to support the selected communities in the development and deployment of their respective applications in the e-Infrastructure. This means using the middleware developed by the JRA and the e-Infrastructure provided by SA1 and SA2 to implement real-life applications with significant real-time requirements, coming from the target communities.
In order to reach these objectives, we will focus on three core applications, one for each community. The core applications will be selected on the basis of
We will define metrics and use the results of porting these applications (namely, the performance, but also the usability of the applications), to iterate on the middleware an on the infrastructure. We will continue the tuning of the infrastructure and we will then port, run and benchmark the remaining applications. The ultimate goal of this workpackage is to establish and provide the supported communities with a set of best practise examples, in order to let them independently develop new applications and use the infrastructure in a transparent way. The complexities of using the infrastructure should disappear, leaving scientists, operators and researchers to concentrate on their daily tasks.
