Component overview

DORII Common Library is a Java client library for accessing Grid resources. It is based mainly on the gEclipse code and the available gLite client code from the earlier versions of the VCR. This component is an utility library used by client applications of the DORII infrastructure like the VCR and the WfMS and will hopefully prove helpful to third parties as well.

The component is composed of Java client code available as a Jar package and other parts (mainly WMS access) still bundled in gEclipse's OSGi bundles. For the latter part a separate Tomcat server is required as such code is accessible only via a web service interface.

Storage access client code have been extracted from the gEclipse's OSGi bundles in order to avoid web service layer. New entry-point interface for the entire library has been created. CRL update service has been added. Single installation procedure for client and server. BDII cache has been added. Multiple BDII URLs supported.

Java JRE 5 or 6 (with JAVA_HOME environment variable set). Apache Ant 1.7.* (with ANT_HOME environment variable set). Internet connection.
