After a component pre-release version is ready and announced by the JRA, the appointed IT members check the provided documentation, test the installation and the basic functionality of the component as described in the "Component Release And Testing Procedures" document. The document serves as a guide both to the JRA developers and the IT testers. Bugs are reported to the developers directly (e-mail, Skype) or using the GForge bug tracker.

Once the component review is complete, a summary report is filed on the provided wiki page.

Goals and Tasks

DORII Integration Team (IT) has been established as a technical discussion forum for the DORII project. Its activities focus on quality assurance of the adopted software components and tools and their adequate integration. IT membership spans over JRA, NA3, SA1 and SA2 work packages.

DORII inherits most of its middleware parts from a number of previous ICT projects and it builds upon those. The software development continues in order to improve functionalities and the integration of the various components requires additional adaptation tasks. Users' feedback provided by the deployed applications suggests new features and modifications of the existing ones. Therefore, DORII periodically releases such updates and improvements of the middleware components.

This document aims to define and to promote the best practices for the DORII software releases in order to obtain quality software with adequate integration that provides consistent and enjoyable enduser experience.
