Minutes:

Goal of the meeting is to keep up to date on the status of the applications deployment and particularly on the pilot applications as at the end of January we should have the pilot applications deployed on the current DORII infrastructure. Secondary goal to select and define precisely the pilot applications.

Status of the OGS application(s): - problems in getting the certificates - VCR installed - IE installed. IM to integrate the floats not implemented yet. - model code ported but not yet run as a Job in the Grid - not clear how to move data from instruments to the Grid. - model not connected to the instruments - user story and collective application behavior not yet defined

Status of UC application(s): HORUS_bench and Wave prediction will use the VCR installed by CSIS (status not know as Ignacio Cotellio is on holidays till 15.1.09). IM should move files from a remote folder (windows machine) to the Grid. A support on how to write an IM to move files to the Grid is needed. In the first deployment there will be no interaction with the frame grabbers as image storage will be mounted remotely. Image processing have not yet been tested on a CE. In order to progress by the end of the month at least a basic processing will be provided. Acquired and processed images will be downloaded using the VCR and then visualized.

Status of ECHOHYDROS applications(s): - Not too much progress yet but this is not a pilot application. - Interested in using the Labview/IE bridge.

Status of ELETTRA application(s): SAXS application will be used as pilot. VCR ok. We will use the dorii VCR at the beginning. IE/IM acquiring images and moving to the Grid almost done. CE code already tested on a single image (fit2d). We don't have yet defined how we will do the online processing: - if we will launch many jobs for a data collection session or a single interactive job. We still have problems integrating i2glogin with the VCR. Both acquire and processed data files can be accessed and visualized from the VCR. The user will launch from the VCR both an application to do online processing and an application for processing off-line processing on sets of images.

Status of EUCENTER application(s): - VCR installed. - problems in getting the certificates. RA establishment process on the way. - IE/IM already integrated 4 instruments: 3 sensors and 1 actuator - Need support on moving data to the Grid. - CE: after an attempts to use Mono to port the visual basic application Matteo is rewriting the code in C. There is a progress in the second application too as the distributed sensors are equipped with a service with a specified API. There is already some java code to interrogate the sensors.

Action Items: Most of the applications developers need a micro-course focused on understanding how to develop IE/IM code to move files to and from SE. Milan will organize the micro course asap (possibly during the following NA3 meeting). There will be a face to face meeting between OGS ad ELETTRA to further investigate the status of the OGS applications. Next NA3 meetings every monday from 3.30pm to 4.30pm.
